The three engagements above are for refining a deck you already have. If you genuinely have nothing yet, no draft, no narrative, no positioning, that's a different scope of work. Weeks of operator time, custom research, a full narrative and GTM build, every slide written and designed from scratch.

I take on a small number of these per year, by application only. If a refinement engagement isn't a fit because there's nothing yet to refine, tell me what you're raising and I'll let you know.

How I price

Six rules that keep the invoice honest.

No hourly
You pay for outcomes, not hours. The clock isn't the product.
No retainers
Each engagement ends. If you want more, we scope a new one.
No equity
I'm not your advisor. I don't take points off the round.
No success fees
I get paid the same whether the round closes hot or slow.
No subcontractors
The person quoting the work is the person doing the work.
No surprise invoices
If something falls outside scope, I tell you before I do it.
Why these numbers

The math behind each price tag.

Every tier is priced against the hours it actually takes and the engagements I have to turn down to run it. Not a markup on a template.

Audit · $2k

~6 hours of operator time

A full read of the deck, the cover email, and one investor follow-up email, returned as a written memo within 72 hours. Priced as a true loss-leader: it covers my time at roughly half rate so the bar to start is low. About a third of audit clients come back for a deeper engagement; the other two-thirds get enough out of the memo to ship. Both outcomes are fine.

Refine · $5.5k

~18 hours over two weeks

The audit, plus three live working sessions in your file, plus a rewrite of the four highest-leverage slides (usually problem, why-now, traction, ask) and the cover email. This is the modal engagement and the one I price closest to true cost. It maps to roughly two weeks of half-time work; I take two of these a month.

Round-out · $12k

~45 hours over four weeks

Refine, plus a full rewrite of the rest of the deck, a working financial-model read, partner-meeting Q&A prep, and async support through the first close. This is priced for founders who want one operator embedded for the duration of the raise — not the cheapest hour but the lowest total cost when you count slipped weeks.

Ground-up · $25k+

~80 hours over six to eight weeks

Built from a blank page: research, narrative, slide design, and model architecture. I take two or three of these a year, by application. The price reflects the opportunity cost of saying no to three Refine engagements while it runs. If you genuinely have nothing yet, this is the only honest scope.
